
Upma, uppumavu or uppittu is a dish originating from the Indian subcontinent, most common in the southern states as breakfast, cooked as a thick porridge using Foxtail Millets
Add 1.5 tbsp Ghee, 0.25 tsp Hing, 0.5 tsp Mustard Seeds, and 10 washed Curry Leaves to The Upliance jar. The Upliance will then sauté these spices for about 3.5 minutes on medium heat with automatic stirring.
Add 1 piece Onion (cut in two), 1 piece Green Chilli (stem removed), and 3g peeled Ginger to The Upliance jar. The Upliance will automatically chop these aromatics for 10 seconds. Then, it will sauté them for 3 minutes on medium heat with automatic stirring.
Add 1 tsp Salt, 1 tsp Sugar, 40g washed Frozen Peas, 50g chopped Carrot, 100g washed and soaked Foxtail Millet, and 380ml Water to The Upliance jar. The Upliance will cook the Upma for approximately 20 minutes on medium heat with automatic stirring until it reaches a thick porridge consistency.
The Millets Upma is now ready to be served. Transfer it to a serving bowl. Optionally, prepare a quick tempering outside The Upliance with 0.5 tbsp Ghee, 0.5 tsp Mustard Seeds, 10 washed Curry Leaves, and 8 Cashews, then pour over the Upma before serving.
