Pongal is a delicious South Indian porridge made with rice and yellow moong lentils and laced with the wonderful flavors of cumin, asafetida, curry leaves, ginger, and chilies. Pair with Curd/Sambar or Coconut Chutney
Add peeled ginger and green chilli to The Upliance jar. The device will chop these ingredients finely to create the flavor base for the Pongal.
Add the soaked moong dal, soaked rice, water, and 1 tsp of ghee to The Upliance jar. The device will cook the mixture on low heat for approximately 25 minutes with automatic stirring until the rice and dal are soft and mushy.
Add salt, remaining ghee, cashews, cumin seeds, curry leaves, black pepper, and hing to the cooked mixture. The device will sauté the tempering ingredients into the Pongal on medium heat for 2 minutes to infuse the flavors.
The Ven Pongal is ready to be served. Garnish with fresh minced coriander leaves and a drizzle of ghee. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
